After over 25 years of level 7 (and sometimes higher) chronic pain in my lower back MY PAIN TO THIS DAY IS LESS THAN A Level 1 !!!! it’s literally a miracle in my life that I never thought was possible!
This is the first year in 25 years that I’ve had a summer without pain!… when I wake up in the morning it’s hard to believe!
Let me tell you my backstory…
I broke my back as a wrestler when I was young adult. I wrestled at a very high level, I got 3rd in the world team trials for the USA and traveled with team USA out of the country. I even trained at the Olympic training center.…. I wrestled at a very intense level & wrestling is extremely rough on the body!
Then, in the midst of my wrestling career, I broke my back with a Spondylolysis fracture, this injury gradually ended my wrestling career altogether…. Crushing my Olympic dream….
Sadly, the pain progressed no matter what I did. Over 25 years of physical therapy, injections, chiropractic, pain medicines, pilates, anti-inflammatory diet and I even became a massage therapist to try to calm the pain…. No matter what I did, the pain got worse and worse with the years… extreme back pain was sucking the life out of me
Eventually, it got to the place where I couldn’t sit for more than five minutes. And eventually it progressed to where walking became painful. My feet were tingling radiating with pain, and the situation was just getting worse and worse… I felt like an aging Grampa in my 30’s!
I was Daily dealing with severe levels of chronic pain that gave me chronic fatigue.
I was absolutely miserable…
When you deal with pain at a high level, eventually, you begin to lose hope for your future…. The thought of growing older someday tormented me… it seemed impossible. Sometimes the pain was so bad that I prayed that God would let me die.
I knew I needed to have a surgery, but I didn’t trust the fusion surgeries because I ran into many people who had failed fusions & horrible experiences…. (The traditional previous way of doing fusions was a butcher job with low success rate.)
I knew I needed spine surgery, but due to the statistics, I dreaded it! So much fear!
I prayed that someday medical science would advance to the point where they would improve this procedure and I would be able to have a successful fusion
Then one day a friend of mine who also had spondylolysis (similar to me) found Dr. Abbasi on online. I looked at his clinic’s (inspired Spine’s) videos and the case studies. The success rate was undeniable. I don’t think there’s any other surgeon online that has over 1000 positive testimonials of patients after spine surgery on YouTube!!! After watching his videos, I realize that Dr. Abbasi is probably one of the top back surgeons in United States!
My friend who had my same condition then had OLLIF surgery with Dr. Abbasi & within six months he was totally free of pain. He told me, “Josh I forgot I even had a lower back issue!” (He was absolutely miserable before).
So after his successful surgery, I signed up to have my surgery in July 2024
Surgery was quick, 30 minutes. I went home the next day… the recovery took some time and patience, but that is how major surgery works
Each month along the process, my back has gotten better and better and stronger & stronger
Now, after one year of the OLLIF fusion procedure I’m writing this with less than a Level-1 pain!!!
I can sit for as long as I want!
I can travel!
Walking does not hurt anymore!
I am active again!
I’m enjoying my first Pain Free summer in 25 years!!!
Dr. Abbasi words cannot describe how thankful I am for you & for how you have dedicated your life to help people in chronic pain. Please keep doing what you’re doing & don’t give up or back down!
FORVER THANKFUL !!!!!!!
